Since our Chicagoland winters usually mean snow and freezing temperatures, now is the time to consider how to prevent an ice dam from occurring on your roof!

An ice dam may form on almost any roof after a substantial snowfall. Even in extreme cold, snow on the roof will thaw somewhat because of heat from the sun and from the interior of the building.
